MadOne’s Best Eleven for Gameweek 5

A daily fantasy football game is way different than a normal, season-long fantasy game. In a normal fantasy football game, planning and patience is important. However, in a daily fantasy football game, it’s a whole different ball game. You don’t have to worry about how bad you did in previous weeks and you don’t think about any future ones. Sounds good, right? So, let’s look at my best eleven for ‘Special tournament’ for gameweek 5.

I’m not an expert in this type of game by any means but I had my fair share of trials. This week, I am going to show you my approach in picking my team for my entry to a very special game this week on DailyStrikers, a game that will involve players only from Saturday and the winner will get an Arsenal T-shirt.

I’ve picked 10/11 players playing at home in relatively favorable fixtures and has filled the gaps with some cheap starting players with a potential for fantasy returns. I really have found it easy this week which probably means I will fail terribly… (haha, just kidding 😀 )

GK: Wayne Hennessey (Huddersfield (A), $6.5K)

Hennessey has been in fine form this season for the Eagles and with an away trip to the goal-shy Huddersfield Town, I am expecting decent points if not a clean sheet. Although, Lossl ($6.0K) was my initial pick due to the price, I had cash to spare after completing my team and it was a good upgrade to Hennessey.

DEF: Marcos Alonso (Cardiff City (H), $8.2K)

He is the most expensive defender in both the official FPL game and in this game and rightly so. Do I have to justify this pick? With his incredible goal threat and a good chance of a clean sheet against Cardiff City at Stamford bridge, this is a no brainer.

DEF: Benjamin Mendy (Fulham (H), $7.8K)

See Alonso. Manchester City at home is unstoppable and Mendy has been an absolute assist machine for them and I expect him to continue doing that against a very leaky Fulham team.

DEF: Adam Smith (Leicester City (H), $6.0K)

Smith is a cheap defender with a decent goal threat. This may be only based on the fact I like him as a player and his cheap price and fixture swayed me to pick him for my third defender spot.

MID: Eden Hazard (Cardiff City (H), $12.1K)

He was the second name on my team sheet. Hazard has been very consistent this season averaging a goal or an assist every match and he plays against Cardiff City at home; another no-brainer.

MID: Pedro (Cardiff City (H), $9.7K)

With Hazard in my side, I am expecting a lot of people with him and Alonso in their teams. That’s why I am tripling up with Pedro. Morata was another option for me but due to better and cheaper forwards, I decided on this strategy.

MID: Ilkay Gundogan (Fulham (H), $9.1K)

I am expecting a lot of goals from Manchester City and this guy may be well involved. My earlier preference was David Silva. However, the Spaniard is $2.4K higher than the German which swayed my decision.

MID: David Brooks (Leicester City (H), $8.0K)

This was my last pick to complete the team. He’s the best option for $8.5K or lower from the Saturday games in my opinion.

FWD: Sergio Aguero (Fulham (H), $12.6K)

He was the first name on my team sheet. A great captain candidate for the weekend against Fulham and as mentioned above, I am expecting goals from the Citizens especially this one.

Image: Troy Deeney (Franziska Buchanan)

FWD: Troy Deeney (Manchester United (H), $10.1K)

Watford have had a stronger start than anyone could’ve predicted. They’re sitting joint top with Chelsea and Liverpool with 4 wins in 4. Against a shaky Manchester United team, I am expecting an upset and Troy Deeney can deliver the goods being on penalties as well.

FWD: Callum Wilson (Leicester City (H), $9.8K)

Last but not least, Callum Wilson. One of the most in form strikers in the league, he’s at home to a good side in Leicester but you can always bet on Bournemouth’s goals at the Vitality stadium.

Can you beat this side?

Challenge me and win an Arsenal T-shirt.
