Wow so GW26 was a first this season, with only 1 team keeping a clean sheet. Lets hope GW27 is eventful too. Lets take a look at 4 in more detail.
Tottenham vs Arsenal
The tie of the weekend, the north London derby. It has all the makings of a great game and I think there are some good attacking returns to be had.
Tottenham have of course Kane, and you can’t bet against him to score against anyone. Eriksen at 14% ownership might be worth a look at too, although his assists have dried up (no return since GW22) but 2 goals in the last 3 games might show he is finishing off the chances rather than setting them up for someone else. I can’t see a clean sheet for their defenders either, so I wouldn’t be bringing any in this week. Keep an eye on tonights cup tie to see if Moura features, could be a good option if you want a big differential at 0.1% owned!
Arsenal, so the Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan show well and truly kicked off in midweek vs Everton. Mkhitaryan showing what we all know he can do with 3 assits in a game (first time anyone has done that this season). Aubameyang is a great differential at just 4% owned, it’s a tough match but I expect goals so could be worth a gamble.
Teams Star man: Harry Kane (Tottenham) & Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal)
Possible Punt: Lucas Moura (Tottenham – 0.1% owned)
Man City vs Leicester
Man City were kept to a draw by a gritty Burnley in midweek and at home to Leicester isn’t going to be easy either.
Defensively the addition of Laporte (£5.5M) is a great one but it leaves them with 4 central defenders competing for 2 places and that can only mean rotation. I think even Otamendi will get a rest now and wouldn’t be surprised if its against Leicester that happens.
Leciester have their own problem at the moment in Mahrez, but him aside Vardy is still the pick of the offensive players for them. He’s scored in his last 3 games and a lot will rest of him again this weekend. While I don’t expect a clean sheet from Leicester I think Schmeichel could be a good pick if you want to go for save points too, he is likely to get plenty coming his way.
Teams Star man: Kevin De Bruyne (Man City) & Jamie Vardy (Leicester)
Possible Punt: Bernardo Silva (Man City – 1.0% owned)
Southampton vs Liverpool
Known to many as Southampton present vs Southampton past.
Southampton finally picked up a win away to WBA in midweek, their first in 12 games. Their home form hasn’t been great this season but the visit of Liverpool is one that will get the fans well and truly behind the side and I expect a tough game for Liverpool
James Ward-Prowse is the most in form player in FPL currently and at £5.1M and just 2.2% owned is a great option for your 4th or 5th midfielder. Free kicks and corners have been benefical for him recently. Jack Stephens has 2 in his last 2 games both from JWP corners, and at just 0.5% owned he is a good option for a differential, although only 3 CS all season, his luck in front of goal might have just run out…
Liverpool on the other hand will be looking to get back to winning ways and repeat their earlier fixture against Southampton.
Salah remains the man for goals with another two against Tottenham. Mane and Firmino both had poor games and for a team trying to get Top 4 they are going to need these two to return more regularly too.
Another game where I don’t see a clean sheet for either time, so expect goals.
Teams Star man: James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) & Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
Possible Punt: Guido Carrillo (Southampton – 0.1% owned)
Chelsea vs WBA
The last game of the GW and a great chance for Chelsea to put the disappointment of the last 2 games behind them and bounce back with a win.
Who would have expected back to back defeats with 7 goals conceded in the process. I think they miss Christensen in the back line and will be hoping he is back for the weekend (personally I think it’ll be GW28). Hazard remains the goal threat for them, but I have a sneaky feeling Giroud will start as Conte will mix it up following the defeats. I can see him scoring a few headed goals between now and the end of the season.
WBA are in danger of being cut adrift, 4 points from 19th already and you don’t expect them to get anything from this game. Sturridge was brought in to fire them to safety and I think given the service he will score them goals, I just don’t see him getting too many chances this weekend.
Teams Star man: Eden Hazard (Chelsea) & Daniel Sturridge (WBA)
Possible Punt: Olivier Giroud (Chelsea – 1.9% owned)
